It took three years to get here, but just one race for Jasmine Jones to show her potential in the 400-meter hurdles.

Jones ran 56.53 at the 44th San Diego State Aztec Invitational and moved to seventh on USC's all-time list and up to No. 2 so far in the early NCAA outdoor season.

Jones was one of a handful of USC athletes who shined in San Diego as the Trojans swept the team titles with overwhelming depth.

Sophomore Samirah Moody and freshman Christine Mallard finished together in the 200 meters in 22.93 seconds.

Grad student Bailey Lear won the 400 in 52.76 seconds. And sophomore Gigi Maccagnini won the 800 in 2:07.39.

One of the most highly anticipated races became something of a bust when the 'A' lineups from both USC and Oregon were disqualified for exhange zone violations rounding the final curve of the women's 4x100 relay.

Oregon's Jadyn Mays won the women's 100 meters in a time of 11.19, just off her personal best and the third-fastest time in the NCAA so far this season. USC's Caisja Chandler was second in 11.26.

BYU's Cierra Tidwell scaled 6-0.75 for the NCAA's top mark so far in the high jump.

Another Cierra, Fresno State's Cierra Jackson, won the women's discus with an NCAA-leading 199-4 (60.77m). It was two inches beyond her best from 2022.

Jessica Kain from San Diego State won the 1,500 meters in 4:20.63

Washington's Nastassja Campbell went over 14-4 (5.37m) to win the women's pole vault.

In the shot put, UNLV's Rosa Santana threw 56-6.75 (17.24m) for a win.

Anna Purchase from Cal threw 220 feet (67.05m) to win the women's hammer.

Iowa State had a productive weekend in the multis, where Sydney Willits edged Fresno State's Kaja Bins, 4,931 points to 4,928 points in the heptathlon.

In the decathlon, the Cyclones' Thai Thompson got the victory with 6,866 points.

Arizona State finished second to USC in the men's team scoring and the Sun Devils shined in the sprints. Jalen Drayden, a junior, won the 100 meters in 10.34 and teammate Jeremiah Curry, a senior, won the 200 meters in 20.75 seconds.

Drayden and Curry teammed with Justin Robinson and Trevin Moyer to turn in a 39.23 performance in the 4x100 relay, beating an Oregon team with Micah Williams running the second leg (39.72).

Arizona State's Dubem Nwuchukwu added another victory in the 400 meters with 46.16, and he joined Moyer, Curry and Garrett Shedrick to win the 4x400 relay in 3:09.30.

USC's Johnny Brackins won the men's 110-meter hurdles in 13.89 seconds.

Cass Elliott of Washington ran the nation's fastest 400-meter hurdles time so far in 2023, with 50.24.

Tyler Burns from California, a sophomore, jumped more than eight inches over his lifetime best and won the men's pole vault with 18-2.50 (5.55m).

Turner Washngton from Arizona State won the discus with a toss of 200 feet (60.97m) and also won the shot put with 62-2.50 (18.96m).
